Debby Atwater
Debby Atwater is the Director of Digital Learning & Library Services in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and has been an educator for 19 years. She started her career as a 6th grade teacher for 3 years, an Instructional Technology Facilitator for 15 years, and a District administrator for 4 years. Over the years, Debby's passion for helping her fellow educators grow in the areas of digital learning, library and media instruction, and innovative professional learning models, she has presented several workshops at the Illinois Computer Educators (ICE) Conference, Illinois Technology Educators Conference, the NC Blended Learning Summit, and has attended 8 Edcamps (and counting) and most recently co-organized EdCampLeader NC during the summer of 2015. Christy BarhamChristy Barham is the Coordinator for Media, Technology, & Professional Development for Rockingham County Schools. Chuck ElliottChuck has worked as an Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) in Franklin County for nearly two years. Prior to being an ITF, he taught high school English for three years in Ohio before moving to NC to teach 8th grade ELA, where he was one of the three finalists for FCS Teacher of the Year. Chuck is currently pursuing his Masters in Digital Learning and Teaching at NCSU. He has been a part of both school-based and district-wide professional development trainings. Jason KingJason King is an educator of 12 years whose pedagogical experience includes teaching English, Journalism, Speech & Debate, and Creative Writing. He is NBPTS certified, and holds a Masters in School Administration. As a professional hobby, he enjoys designing pragmatic professional development and studying school organizational structures. When not wearing his teacher hat, Jason is a professional photographer and budding real estate entrepreneur, philosopher and poet, as well as the father of two amazing children, one a bonafide Autobot and the other a karmic force of nature. Jason is a nebulous, recursive thinker, and enjoys the lightening strike that can only be found through authentic collaboration. His dynamic, engaging style allows him to achieve MAGICAL SCHOOL BUS power, a technique he discovered while experimenting with quantum physics as an interpretive literary lens. Ashley McBride Ashley has been in education for the past 8 years and holds a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction along with a graduate certificate in Computer Education. Starting as an English teacher at the middle and high school levels, she found a love for implementing technology into her classroom. The lack of time to perform her tasks as a teacher and find the best technologies to help her students led her to obtain her licensure in Instructional Technology. She currently serves as the Instructional Technology Facilitator at East Chapel Hill High School in Carrboro- City Schools where she is able to help teachers solve classroom problems using technology.
Kerri Brown Parker
Kerri has been an educator for 19 years starting in Colorado as a middle school and high school ELA and theater/speech teacher. After earning an M.Ed in Educational Technology, she looked for a place where a love of reading and love of instructional technology merged and the logical transition was to serving schools as a librarian. She then worked as a librarian and technology facilitator for Wake County Public Schools for 8 years. Allison Reid
Allison Reid is an English teacher and Instructional Coach who is fired up about empowering students to reach their full potential by leveraging technology in the classroom for creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication. Allison served as the Wake County Public School System's 2014-15 Teacher of the Year, and she is a graduate of both UNC- Greensboro (Bachelors) and NC State University (Masters). She represented Wake County as an ambassador to Singapore and Malaysia this summer with the Center for International Understanding, and has spent time this year interacting with policy makers in NC as an education consultant. Allison serves on the board for the WakeEd Partnership, and was a member of the Strategic Planning team for Wake County Schools as they carved out their five-year vision and strategic plan. She has been a facilitator at NCTIES and several Boot Camps here at the Friday Institute; in addition, she has served as a chat moderator for #NCED focusing on teachable moments, and is on the Human Capacity Advisory for the NCDPI which is focused on NC Digital Competencies. Bethany V. SmithBethany V. Smith is the Director of METRC: Media and Education Technology Resource Center for the College of Education at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Bethany began her career as a High School Teacher in Technology Education and after spending a few years in the private sector returned to the College of Education where she has been since 2003. Her passion is to assist current and future educators integrate technology effectively in their classroom. As Director of METRC, Bethany facilitates workshops in the college, teaches an undergraduate class on on technology integration as well as works with faculty and staff on their teaching practices. Leslie TaylorLeslie serves as media specialist and STEM coordinator for the NEST at Nashville Elementary School. Leslie is passionate about incorporating technology and STEM into Maker Space activities. Teika ClavellTeika is an Educator on Loan for NCDPI's Digital Teaching and Learning. As an EOL, Teika provides professional development to Eastern NC in all things technology. Joshua GriffinJosh Griffin has been with Nash-Rocky Mount Schools for nine years serving as a English III and IV teacher, Digital Media teacher, and yearbook advisor before joining a great team of Instructional Technology Coaches with whom he has had the pleasure of working for the past three years. Hazel LewisHazel has been an educator for 19 years. She taught business education courses for 16 years. In 2006, she achieved National Board Certification in Career Technical Education Early Adolescence through Young Adult. She holds a MS Ed. degree in Education from Walden University in Intergrating Technology into the Curriculum for Grades K-12. Kenny McKeeKenny is a National Board Certified Teacher with fifteen years of experience in both middle and high schools. Once I received that degree, I was sought after by my district to impact more than just my classes with technology. Savannah RichardsSavannah has been an Instructional Technology Facilitator in Franklin Country for the last two years. She collaborates with teachers and administration to provide creative and impactful technology lessons. Prior to jumping into the tech field, she was a high school history teacher.. Nathan StevensNathan Stevens is the Assistant Director of Media, Education Technology Resource Center in the College of Education at North Carolina State University. Nathan works with Pre-service teachers and school systems on reinvigorating creativity in their students. His focus is on having students use the tools and materials around them to show a deep understanding of their learning. Nathan is the moderator for the #byotchat, #makered, #teacheredchat and #edtechchat on Twitter. He follows the steam approach to 3D printing where literacy is as much of a component to competent design as math and science. Nathan CraverNathan has been an educator for over 14 years. Nathan worked for Wake County Schools and Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools as a math teacher for 9 years. He has also been a tech director for two school systems, Asheboro City and Lexington City. During his time as a tech director, Nathan was responsible for helping lead and facilitate the implementation of 1:1 laptop programs. Terri HawleyTerri is presently the Instrucational Technology Facilitator (ITF) at Brassfield Road Elementary in Wake County. Her previous postions include the ITF at Carrboro High School in CHCCS. And before that, she was the ITF for two rural high schools in Bladen County as they were first going 1:1. (As a GoldenLeaf recipant from Bladen County, she knows the value of FI Boot Camp!) A former elementary classroom teacher who saw the difference technology made in her classroom when a grant dropped laptops and wireless internet in her room. Micki PowellMicki Powell is a Chemistry and Forensic Science teacher at Person High School. She also holds a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology. Rebecca Stokes
Rebecca has been a Technology Coach with Nash-Rocky Mount schools for less than a year. Before moving into her current position she was a classroom teacher in fourth and fifth grade classrooms. She was part of the 1:1 iPad roll out within her district and found a love for implementing technology into the classroom. Her mission is now to help other teachers find the joy in education by incorporating technology into meaningful and relevant lessons.
